Admissions Process

In order to be admitted, a prospective student must be at least 17 years of age and have completed all steps of the admissions process.

Step 1: Attend an Open House or schedule an appointment to submit the following documents in person:

  • Application

  • Personal Assessment

  • Valid Government-Issued Photo ID

  • Proof of Education*:

    • High School diploma or transcripts with graduation date or equivalent certified/verified by the high school’s state or other recognized agency; or

  • Cosmetology License (for student instructors)

*Creative Hair School of Cosmetology does not accept ability-to-benefit (ATB) students. In some cases,  college diplomas or transcripts may be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma, after evaluation. Unfamiliar high school diplomas, equivalency exams, and other home school or online education certificates will be verified through an online search and/or phone calls to the specific institution(s). Foreign high school certificates must be evaluated by a credential evaluation agency that is qualified to translate documents into English and confirm the academic equivalence to a U.S. high school certificate. Students can go to www.naces.org/members or aice-eval.org/endorsed-members/ for a list of credential evaluation agencies.

Step 2: Pay the $25.00 non-refundable Application Fee

Step 3: Interview with Creative Hair School staff

After the interview, prospective students will be notified if they have been accepted. If they wish to accept and enroll, they must complete the remaining steps of the admissions process:

Step 4: Attend Orientation

Step 5: Pay the $75.00 Registration Fee (and Book & Kit Fee, if applicable)

Step 6: Finalize arrangements for financing their education (see Financial Aid)

  • Creative Hair School complies with all provisions of section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act & the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) in that no qualified physically or intellectually disabled person, by reason of the disability, will be excluded from enrolling in a course of instruction. However, any disabled person seeking admission should be aware that the course requires a high level of intellectual acuity, manual dexterity, and coordination. An individual evaluation is necessary to determine employability in the beauty industry. Creative Hair School of Cosmetology’s facility is readily accessible for disabled students but there are no dedicated facilities, support, or transitional programs available.

Students have the responsibility to disclose and request accommodation through the campus manager. Communication with faculty or other staff members does not constitute fulfilling the ADA accommodation requirements. • Michigan Homeschool Students: We require a transcript or the equivalent, signed by the student's parent or guardian, that lists the secondary school courses the student completed and includes a statement that the student successfully completed a secondary school education in a homeschool setting. If the student was finishing secondary school in a homeschool setting, we may require their transcripts from all secondary schools attended.
